Chicago IL (SN) – The developers of the hit fighting series “Mortal Kombat” are no strangers to controversy, and with the eleventh installment of the series hitting stores in April, NetherRealm Studios have unveiled the first of many surprise “unlockable” characters hidden throughout the game.
“Yeah that smirking little shit that taunted that Native American elder is going to be unlocked if the player enters a specific combination of buttons on the title screen,” said NetherRealm founder Ed Boon. “We included Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees in the last game as additional characters and everyone had a lot of fun with it.”
Boon refused to take any sort of political stance, adding that the special content would be accepted enthusiastically from gamers on both sides of the political spectrum.
“I know there are multiple videos and angles to this Catholic school boys footage, and now that a few days have passed there is a lot of confusion as to whether or not the kid was actually doing anything wrong,” he admitted to reporters. “It doesn’t really affect how many average players would be elated to rip that kids fucking jaw off of his face while playing as Goro.”
The legendary fighting game developer also welcomed any and all political views to join in on the Kombat.
“You can chop the boy to pieces with Baraka’s blade hands, or you can fight as the little fucker if you choose. We have plenty of fighters with a wide array of ethnic diversity for the right wingers to get really creative with their institutional racism,” said Boon. “MORTAL KOMBAT!”
Mortal Kombat 11 is scheduled for release on April 23, 2019, across Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
